Addressing Youth Challenges in Tunduru: TCDI’s Community-Based Approach
Youth in rural communities such as Tunduru face significant challenges in accessing quality education, mentorship, and opportunities for personal development.
As a community-based organization (CBO), Tunduru Community Development Initiative (TCDI) was established to mobilize local youth and alumni to address these challenges through structured and sustainable interventions.
Limited learning resources, lack of academic support, and minimal exposure to career pathways continue to affect students’ performance and confidence.
Our Response
- Establishing community-based tuition centres
- Mobilizing volunteer teachers and alumni support
- Providing mentorship and academic guidance
Currently, TCDI supports students in five villages: Mkasale, Mtina, Nasya, Mkotamo, and Marumba, with a focus on English and Mathematics.
Our approach aligns with our organizational mission to strengthen education, community health awareness, and youth empowerment through coordinated community efforts.
Moving Forward
TCDI continues to build systems that ensure consistency, accountability, and measurable impact within the communities we serve.
